SSI-funded Research finds Social Class tied to Likelihood of Playing College Sports

In new research published in the Sociology of Sport Journal, 2019 SSI Student Research Grant Award winner and sociology graduate student James Tompsett (pictured) found evidence of how cumulative social class advantages lead to higher likelihoods of more privileged teenagers eventually playing college sports.

He collaborated with SSI Research Chair and sociology professor Chris Knoester in this work.
