Peter Tortorici, Board Chair
Peter Tortorici brings sports media expertise to the committee from many sides. Now a self-employed senior strategic advisor, the Ohio State alum is a former head of CBS Entertainment, previous advisor for the National Olympic Committee, and has over four decades of experience in the sports industry.
Steve Chappelear
Senior litigation attorney Chappelear is a two-time Ohio State alumnus and served as the Varsity ‘O’ Alumni Society’s president from 2020-21. The Columbus native is also a former Ohio State Athletic Council member and a past president of the Moritz College of Law Alumni Association.
John Davidson
As the university's faculty-athletics representative, Dr. John Davidson advises the president of the university and the athletic department on academic issues that impact athletes from a faculty perspective. Davidson is also a professor in the Department of Germanic Languages and Cultures at Ohio State.
Vince Doria
Before he was the senior vice president and director of news at ESPN, Doria held roles with the Philadelphia Enquirer and the Boston Globe. A graduate of Ohio State’s journalism program, Doria has won 29 Emmy Awards for his work with ESPN.
Dru Hancock
A former two-sport student-athlete at Ohio State, Hancock has experience in sports information and administration, and is a lifelong advocate for advancing women’s athletics. Hancock is the former senior associate commissioner of the Big 12 Conference and served on NCAA Division 1 Women’s Basketball Committee for five years.
Greg Houston
Houston joined on the board since October 2024 and is the co-founder of the marketing and communications firm DeanHouston, Inc. Previously, Houston served on the Cincinnati Reds Board of Directors and is a 1980 graduate of Ohio State.
Ryan King
Currently the divisional dean of Social and Behavioral Sciences with Ohio State’s Department of Sociology, King has expertise in crime and deviance, inter-group conflict and sociology of law. King holds two degrees from the University of Minnesota and has been published in many leading sociology journals, including the American Journal of Sociology and American Sociological Review.
Linda Logan
Logan has been the chief executive of the Greater Columbus Sports Commission since its inception in June 2002 and has helped bring major sporting events like last year’s U.S. Figure Skating Championship to Columbus. She also served as the director of sports marketing for the Greater Columbus Convention & Visitors Bureau for five years and has been pivotal in making Columbus a major sporting event destination.
Stacy McGranor
McGranor has served on the SSI board since fall of 2022 and holds nearly 15 years of experience in the sports scope. Now the director of CX strategy for the San Jose Sharks, McGranor leads research in creating, shaping and advancing the organization’s brand. McGranor also held a position within the Columbus Crew’s fan experience department from 2010-11.
Matthew Mitten
One of the top experts in the sports law field, Mitten is the executive director of the National Sports Law Institute at Marquette University Law School and has testified before U.S. Congress on various issues in college athletics. The Ohio State alum also held roles in various committees for three different Olympic Games.
Chris North
As vice president of hospitality and strategy for Levy Restaurants—the food and beverage supplier for Ohio State’s athletic events—North implements and oversees new food service strategies to enhance fan experience. He’s helped to reimagine concessions in premier venues like Ohio Stadium and has served on the SSI board since fall of 2024
Joshua Perry
A former Ohio State linebacker and College Football Playoff national champion, Perry serves as a college football analyst for NBC Sports. The Olentangy native also spent five seasons on Big Ten network after he spent three seasons playing in the NFL.
Kevin Griffin
A former letterwinner for Ohio State football, Griffin works in Ohio State Athletics as an associate VP for brand engagement, where he oversees creating and managing revenue-building opportunities for the university. Previously, he’s served in leadership roles with the Seattle Seahawks, Cleveland Browns and at D.C. United.
Greg Strizek
Strizek, principal research analyst at Strategic Analytics, Inc., brings a sports-analytics perspective to the board. He’s led research efforts supporting the NASCAR Sprint Cup program for a major automobile manufacturer, as well as analyzed NFL player performance in correlation with personalities. Dr. Strizek also has two degrees from Ohio State.
Jim Treleaven
Treleaven is the president and CEO at VIA Strategy Group LLC, as well as a clinical associate professor at University of Illinois at Chicago. He teaches courses in competitive strategy and innovation and has been a voice in a number of SSI’s panel events.
Kristin Watt
A four-year letterwinner of Ohio State women’s basketball and longtime broadcast voice for the team, Kristin Watt has served on SSI’s advisory board, Ohio State Alumni Association’s board and was also a winner of the Phyllis Bailey Career Achievement Award. Watt is currently a partner at Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP.
Bruce Wimbish
With over 20 years of experience in the sporting industry across all levels and departments, Wimbish brings a versatile perspective to SSI’s board. He currently has a leadership role at ASM Global and also serves on the University of Cincinnati’s sports administration program’s board.
