The Sports and Society Initiative has an active and extensive internship program to help students get real-world experience working in and around sports. Dutioes include organization, event planning, interviewing, social media, writing, editing, photography, videography and podcasting. Savannah Deuer

Savannah Deuer

Savannah Deuer is a sophomore studying sport industry with minors in history of art and communication. 

She currently runs the Twitter account for the Sport and Society Initiative, and writes spotlight articles, as well as helps out with the SSI podcast.
 
Savannah joined the SSI staff in January of 2020, and has previously held internships with the Columbus Clippers and the Greene Speed Academy, in both broadcasting and communications. Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, Savannah enjoys baseball, cooking, and working with the Scarlet and Gray Radio Network in her free time.

Austin Hill

Austin Hill

Austin Hill is a senior from Brookville, Ohio, studying Communications Technology with minors in Media Production and Analysis. He began his internship with SSI in January of 2021.

Austin currently runs the LinkedIn and Instagram accounts, contributes creative strategies, and creates video content for SSI. In the past, he has freelanced for Greene Speed Academy and interned with The Big Ten Student U Production Team.

After graduation, Austin hopes to work in the sports community in some capacity.


Ari Horton

Ari Horton

Arianna (Ari) Horton, is a graduating senior from Lorain, Ohio, double majoring in journalism and strategic communication. She began her internship with SSI in January and is currently the features writer.

 
Ari also interned with the Big Ten Network Student U Production team. This past summer she worked as a features associate for Cosmopolitan.
 
After graduation, Ari hopes to be working in the sports journalism world.

Brendan Kucera 

Kucera

Brendan Kucera is a journalism major with an economics minor. He began his internship with SSI in May and is currently the host for The Intersection Podcast. He is also vice president of Scarlet and Gray Sports Radio, the student radio at Ohio State.

Brendan is an aspiring play-by-play broadcaster, and he plans to go to graduate school to further his education in sports business. He enjoys talking sports in any capacity and looks forward to creating more content for SSI.

Cameron Schlechty

Cameron Schlechty

Cameron Schlechty is a third-year sport industry major with a minor in Communication. Schlechty joined the Ohio State Athletic Communications staff as a student assistant in July of 2018. 

Cameron is a native of Charlotte, North Carolina. Prior to Ohio State, she interned with the Carolina Panthers in the guest relations department.
 
Since enrolling at Ohio State, Cameron has volunteered with the Big Ten Communications staff at the 2018 football championship games.  attended the NFL Public Relations seminar for college students at the NFL Combine, gained the position as a social media intern for the Naismith Awards, and most recently earned a role as a social media brand management intern for Envision Creative Agency.
 
Upon graduation, Cameron looks to work in sport social media and brand management.
