SSI's 2019 Student Sports Research Fair Now Accepting Applications

Research Fair
The inaugural SSI Student Research Fair will be a celebration of OSU student-led research on sports and societal issues over the past year.

We encourage participation by students who have completed sports and society research independently, for a class project, as part of a research thesis, as a research assistant, or through other similar means. Eligible topics may include research on the effects of sports involvement, the business of sports, sports and culture, and sports analytics, for example. A project should have reportable results prior to submission. An OSU undergraduate student should be the sole or first author on all submissions.

All accepted projects will be represented by a research poster at the Research Fair on Thursday, April 11, 2019. Authors should plan to present their poster at the fair as well. There will be awards and cash prizes for the most outstanding projects, judged according to research excellence, presentation, contribution to understanding a sports and society issue(s), and extent of student involvement in the project.

To submit a research project for inclusion in the Fair, please email the following to Miroslava Marshall by Friday, March 8, 2019:

1. An abstract that describes the research, methods, results, and implications of the research in 300 words or less.
2. A brief statement (i.e., 1-2 sentences) that describes how the project meets the criteria of being research on a sports and society issue(s).
3. A manuscript draft (if available).
4. The name(s), contact information, and class standing/title of the author(s).

Letters of acceptance will be sent out the week of Monday, March 11, 2019. Awards will be announced on Friday, April 12, 2019.
