RESEARCH: Four Winning Teams Recognized at SSI Research Undergraduate Research Fair

First Prize No. 1 research fair

The Sports and Society Initiative is honored to announce award winners for its third annual Undergraduate Student Research fair.

  • The presentation from Ohio State's Emily Nothnagle on the development of grit through sports participation was awarded Outstanding Sport for Development Research.
  • Phanawn Bailey, Maurice Beavers, Scottie Ethington, and Will Simpson of Otterbein University were recognized for Outstanding Original Data Collection for their diversity and inclusion survey of athletes at Otterbein.
  • Five students from the University of Illinois--Kaitlin Ratcliff, Cheyenne Petersen, Dustin Epstein, Julia Illecki, Rusi Dong and Kaitlin Pericak--were honored for their presentation on access to mental health resources for student-athletes at power five universities.
  • Ohio State senior Nayan Patel teamed up with Purdue University student Carleen Markey. Their cluster analysis of player archetypes in women's hockey was honored for their Outstanding Application of Analytics.
