
SSI and the Sports Analytics Association at Ohio State University are hosting the 5th Sports Analytics Conference on March 28-29. The event gives students the opportunity to hear from professionals in the sports analytics industry and present their own research. Registration is free and open to the public.

The Sports Analytics Conference also hosts the SSI student research fair. Any student is welcome to submit their sports related project in any field for consideration. Online presentation slots are available on March 28. In-person presentations slots and poster presentations are available on March 29. More details are available at the submission site listed above.

March 29 9:00 am - 6:00 pm is the in-person conference. The day will feature presentations from the finalists of our Hackathon, student research presentations, sports analytics discussion panels, and more. Our panels include eSports Analytics, Fan Experience and Analytics, Software & Database support for Sports Organizations, and 1 more to be added. Current panelists are working with Sports Information Systems, Chicago Cubs, Cleveland Cavaliers, San Jose Sharks, Houston Rockets, Ohio State Athletics, and more. Stay tuned for additional updates.
Hackathon

The goal will be to determine the ideal college football playoff format. Participants will have access to two data files beginning on March 3. The first file is FBS game level data from 2018-2024. The data set will include several advanced metrics including the SIS Total Points Measurement. The second will include player level total points data. Data dictionary and references will be provided. The data can be merged with any free publicly available data set.
