Togiai to benefit LiFEsports Initiative as part of annual NFL Pro Day

Tommy Togiai

Football player Tommy Togiai, in conjunction with The Ohio State University's annual NFL Pro Day, is working with the Sports and Society partner LiFEsports initiative, whose mission is to enhance the quality of youth development, sport, and recreational programs through service and outreach, teaching and learning, and research, thereby increasing positive developmental outcomes for youth.

Togiai is currently preparing for the 2021 NFL Draft in April and on March 30 will attempt to set the NFL Combine bench press record by benching 50 reps of 225 lbs that day. He is encouraging Buckeyes fans to show their support by making a donation for every rep he completes to assist youth sports in Columbus.

The record is currently held by Stephen Paea of Oregon State, who he benched 49 reps in 2011.

Fans looking to cheer him on can make their pledge at https://pledgeit.org/tommytogiai

“Being at Ohio State the last three years, I have loved being a part of the Columbus community and I am grateful for the love and support the community has shown me," Togiai said. ""That is why it is important for me to do something positive to give back. I want to give back to all the kids in the community that cheered and supported me. I want them to have the opportunity I had when I was a kid to be able to participate in sports and chase their dreams.”
