SSI recognizes students for outstanding sports-related research

Research Awards
The SSI has a tradition of encouraging and celebrating undergraduate student sports and society research. One tradition is an annual Student Research Fair. The 2020 OSU Sports and Society Initiative Undergraduate Research Fair took place, via online submissions. 
 
Outstanding Sports Impact Research
 
Adam Sichel was awarded  with a 1st place honor for his study on "The Economic and Social Effects of Legalized Sports Gambling".
 
Jasmine Toorchen was awarded with a 2nd place honor for her research on "Study of Track Surface Type on Injury and Death in New York Horse Racing".
 
Outstanding Sports Business Research

Callie DeCort (pictured at left) was awarded  with a 1st place honor for her research on "How Cost of Attendance Stipends are Creating New Precedents in NCAA Athletics".  
 
Corey Taylor was awarded  with a 2nd  place honor for his study "Regression Discontinuities in the NFL Draft".

Outstanding Sports Performance Analytics

Alex
Alexander Williams (pictured at right) was awarded with a 1st place honor for his research, in collaboration with Ben Clarke and Seth Brugler, on "MAYFIELD: Machine Learning Algorithm for Yearly Forecasting Indicators and Estimation of Long-run Player Development".
