An article questioning the rationale for a House bill to ban transgender athletes from school sports drew upon research by sociology professor Chris Knoester that found that opposition to transgender participation in sports was positively associated with idealized views of female attractiveness and homophobia. Support for trans athlete rights was positively associated with stronger inclinations to support, promote and watch female athletes.
