The Sports and Society Insitute will host longtime NFL executive Jeff Diamond on Friday, April 3, from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in 106 Journalism for an interactive conversation on leadership, negotiations and the business of professional sports.

Diamond brings more than two decades of NFL front-office experience, including serving as vice president/general manager of the Minnesota Vikings and as President/COO of the Tennessee Titans. He was named NFL Executive of the Year following the Vikings’ 15-1 season in 1998 and has negotiated player contracts, trades, coaching agreements, broadcast deals, sponsorships and stadium leases throughout his career. Today, he works as a business and sports consultant, advising clients across professional sports and athlete representation.

During the session, Diamond will share insights from both sides of the negotiating table--team management and player representation--offering students a rare inside look at how deals are structured, how leadership decisions shape organizations and how strategic thinking drives success in high-stakes environments. His presentation will include case studies from his NFL career, along with time for student questions and discussion.

Diamond began his NFL career in public relations and operations, providing students with a relatable career pathway that demonstrates how opportunities in sports can evolve across departments and disciplines. In addition to his executive work, he has built an extensive media career, hosting and contributing to radio, podcast and online coverage of the NFL, further expanding his perspective on sports business and storytelling.

The April 3 program is open to students interested in sports management, sports media, business, law and leadership. Seating is limited. Sign up NOW to reserve your spot!
