Kraft Contributes Chapter on Teaching Sports Media Ethics in New AEJMC Master Class Volume
Nicole Kraft, a professor of journalism practice and SSI director, has contributed a chapter titled “Teaching Sports Media Ethics” to the new edited volume Teaching Sports Media (Bloomsbury Publishing, 2026).
Part of the AEJMC Master Class series, the book brings together leading educators and industry professionals to share practical, classroom-tested approaches for teaching in the rapidly evolving fields of sports media and communication.
Kraft’s chapter focuses on translating ethics from abstract theory into applied practice. Drawing on her work with students, she emphasizes case-based learning, real-world decision-making, and support for emerging journalists in navigating the ethical challenges they will face in professional settings.
The volume explores a wide range of topics shaping sports media education, including experiential learning, broadcasting, sports journalism, esports, accessibility and diversity, and personal branding. A final section—described as a “gym bag”—offers adaptable assignments and teaching activities for immediate classroom use.
Published in partnership with the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, the Master Class series highlights innovative teaching practices across communication disciplines and aims to support educators preparing the next generation of media professionals.
