Board Member Mitten Discusses NIL with U.S. Senate

SSI board member Matthew Mitten, Marquette law professor and executive director of the National Sports Law Institute of Marquette University Law School, testified June 9 about “NCAA Athlete NIL Rights” before the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation.

The hearing addressed federal legislative proposals to enable athletes participating in collegiate sports to monetize their name, image, and likeness; improve athlete health care; enhance scholarship protections and academic outcomes; and review recent changes in state laws around NIL, according to a release from the committee. 

He was joined by:
